Greetings!
Ukraine celebrated Independence Day on August 24, 2026. This celebration marked 35 years of nation-building after the fall of communism and the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1991. Our church members and several friends from Mt. Moriah Baptist handed out over 350 invitations to local Raleigh Ukrainians for church and Bible study at the Independence Day Festival. This year, we sold food and raised $700 for the Odesa orphanage and Kyiv feeding ministries. It was a great day!
The Miami church plant is now without a permanent pastor/leader. Ihor, the missionary sent from our church, had to leave the country because his refugee status wasn’t renewed. Please pray for Ihor and his family as they regroup in Spain and discern God’s leading for their family. Pray also for the church to grow under interim leadership. Five families from the Raleigh church are in the same boat, waiting on their pending refugee status renewal. If they are not renewed by the end of September, they too will have to leave the country. It is a very uncertain time for the Ukrainian refugee community.
Oleh continues to engage with the KY Ukrainians we met last month who are seeking God’s will about starting a Bible study near Louisville. A large, established Ukrainian community lives in that part of KY. Please pray for direction and wisdom as these brothers move forward with their plans. The DC Bible study is now self-led and doing really well. Oleh visits them periodically and is encouraged by their spiritual growth and faithfulness.
Oleh’s seminary published an article in their quarterly theological almanac about his translation work in the 36:1 issue: https://www.bogomysliye.com/UK We are very excited to see God using Oleh’s work to build up the Ukrainian church. Each new book that comes off the press is eagerly awaited by pastors and seminary students.
Our Ukrainian team continues Gospel ministry on many fronts. The Kyiv and Odesa feeding ministries meet basic needs for orphans and internally displaced children. The chaplain team risks their lives to share the Gospel, deliver humanitarian aid, and evacuate wounded soldiers. Frontline pastors continue to serve their churches and communities in very tough situations. Thank you for praying for and supporting these vital ministries! We know that this war will not end anytime soon. Please pray for “Project Rest and Restore” to be a source of encouragement to the 20 pastors and their wives who will attend.
We are grateful that the Lord is answering prayers regarding our partnership-building trips. These past months have been very encouraging as we have added new churches and families to our prayer and financial partnership team. We have met with solid, grounded-in-the-Word churches and families all over the South. It is a source of joy to visit churches on fire for the Lord, ministering to their communities, and seeking to support missionaries around the world. Please continue to pray for new meetings and solid partnership relationships to be built.
(Prayer request and need) Mykola and Viktoriia, a young couple who were saved and baptized at our church 2 years ago, are looking for a reasonably priced used car. If you have a reliable, used car for sale, please contact us.
Please continue to also pray for the following:
- A soon and just end to the Russian-Ukrainian war; today is day 1648;
- Project Rest and Restore to be held January 25-29, 2027, and exit documents to be issued to our pastors who will be attending the retreat in Hungary.
- Wisdom, spiritual endurance, and physical safety for our family as we minister to many needy and hurting people; that the Lord would give clear direction for future ministry opportunities;
- For the Raleigh, Miami, Washington DC, and Canadian church plants/Bible studies to grow; pray for ongoing discipleship of new believers;
- For our Ukrainian team members not to grow weary in doing good; Every night they are attacked by drones and missiles. The upcoming winter will be the most difficult and devastating of the war.
- For the immigration status of Ukrainian refugees to become more stable; for the fear and instability that many are experiencing to be used of the Lord to open their hearts to the Gospel;
- Favor with churches and individuals as we contact them to become missionary partners.
- For our son Simon to grow in his relationship with the Lord and manage his time well between school, work, and sports;
- For our daughter Abigail, who is not making Biblical decisions.
